Album: Patterns - Waking Lines

Patterns
Waking Lines
Label: Melodic

It's early in the year and not much has been released. But... of the small selection out there, the latest album by P"Patterns" stands out. I don't have a favourite song. The whole album is pretty solid all around.

Album: Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Wig Out at Jagbags

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks
Wig Out at Jagbags
Label: Matador

Every Tuesday I check out a few of my favourite music sites to see what the latest new Releases are. Of course, it's early in the year so not much has been released yet. But one album that seems to be on every site I check out was an album by Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks. It's very reminiscent of 90's indie rock. I know because I use to play a ton of it on my radio show back in the day.

I don't think this will be on my year end list but it's worth a mention as it seems to be getting buzz elsewhere. On Tuesday, I'll tell you about my favourite album of the year so far.

Cover Song: Bye Bye Love (The Everly Brothers)

Happy New Year! Today, I was going to start reviewing new albums for 2014... I'll start that Thursday. But, I just came across a great cover song, and one that is very timely.

If you haven't heard, Phil Everly died last week. He of course was one half of the famous "Everly Brothers" of the 1950's and 60's.

Canadian Musician Hannah Georgas has done a fantastic cover of their 1957 hit "Bye Bye Love". This is absolutely in the top 10 covers I've ever heard... maybe even top 5. It's totally worth a listen:
